UPDATE: Ramp Closure from Georgetown Pike to I-495 North in McLean Scheduled this Weekend Sept. 22-24
Traffic to follow signed detour
UPDATE (Sept. 21, 2023): The planned stormwater drainage work requiring the Georgetown Pike to I-495 North ramp closure in McLean that previously was scheduled for this Fri., Sept. 22 through Sunday, Sept. 24, has been postponed and is rescheduled for next weekend, Fri., Sept. 29 through Sunday, Oct. 1, with work taking place Sunday night to Monday morning, Oct. 2, if needed. The work hours and detour will be the same as listed below.
FAIRFAX, VA – The ramp from Georgetown Pike (Route 193) to I-495 North in McLean toward the American Legion Bridge is scheduled to close during overnight hours this weekend, Friday, Sept. 22 - Sunday, Sept. 24. A detour will be in place to I-495 South, where drivers can access I-495 North at the Route 123 interchange. This ramp closure is necessary to accommodate stormwater drainage work as part of the 495 NEXT project.
This work is weather dependent and may be rescheduled if needed.
The ramp will close at:
11:59 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Saturday
11 p.m. Saturday to 4 a.m. Sunday
11 p.m. Sunday to 4 a.m. Monday (if needed)
Detour details:
Motorists heading westbound on Georgetown Pike:
- Continue on Georgetown Pike to the exit for southbound I-495.
- Take the exit for northbound Route 123/Chain Bridge Road.
- Follow Route 123/Chain Bridge Road to the right exit ramp for northbound I-495.
Motorists heading eastbound on Georgetown Pike:
- Take the earlier exit on Georgetown Pike for southbound I-495.
- Take the exit for northbound Route 123/Chain Bridge Road.
- Follow Route 123/Chain Bridge Road to the right exit ramp for northbound I-495.
Drivers are urged to use caution and expect potential delays if traveling through this area.
