Overnight Ramp Closures at Multiple I-66 Interchanges April 10-14 for the Transform 66 Outside the Beltway Project

UPDATE (4/12/2023): The following ramp closures have been added to this week's schedule:

Wednesday night, April 12
I-66 West to Route 50 East
The ramp will be closed from midnight to 4 a.m. for barrier removal. Traffic will be detoured farther west to Route 286 (Fairfax County Parkway) South, stay to the right to I-66 East, then follow signs to Route 50 East. 

Detour for ramp closure I-66W to US-50E

Thursday night, April 13, and Friday night, April 14
Ramps from Route 286 North and South to I-66 East
The ramps will be closed both nights from midnight to 4 a.m. for barrier removal and guardrail installation. Route 286 North traffic will be directed to continue north past I-66, exit to Route 50 East, travel about two miles and follow signs to I-66 East. Route 286 South traffic will be directed to exit to Route 50 East prior to the closure, then follow signs to I-66 East.

FAIRFAX – Temporary ramp closures are scheduled to occur during the overnight hours at the following I-66 interchanges as part of the Transform 66 Outside the Beltway Project.

Monday, April 10, through Thursday, April 13
Ramp from I-66 West to Route 29 (Lee Highway) North and South Centreville
The ramp will be closed nightly from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. for paving and noise wall work. Traffic will be detoured prior to the closure to Route 28 South, then follow signs to Route 29 North or South. 

Monday night, April 10, and Tuesday night, April 11
I-66 East C-D Lane at Route 286 (Fairfax County Parkway)
Ramps from I-66 East to Route 286 North and South
The eastbound collector-distributor lane and the ramps will be closed both nights from midnight to 4 a.m. for barrier removal and guardrail installation. Traffic will be directed to continue farther east to Route 50 West, stay to the right to I-66 West, then follow signs to Route 286 North or South.

 

Monday, April 10, through Wednesday, April 12
Ramp from Nutley Street North to I-66 East
The ramp will be closed each night from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. for drainage work.
 Traffic will be directed to continue north, stay to the left and take the roundabout to Nutley Street South, then follow signs to I-66 East.


Monday, April 10, and Tuesday, April 11
Ramp from I-495 North to I-66 East
The ramp will be closed both nights from 11 p.m. to 4 a.m. for overhead bridge inspection. Traffic will be directed to continue north to Route 7 (Leesburg Pike) East, travel about one mile, then follow signs to I-66 East.


Tuesday night, April 11, and Wednesday night, April 12
Ramp from Route 50 West to Fair Oaks Mall
The ramp will be closed both nights from midnight to 4 a.m. for barrier removal. Traffic will be directed to continue farther west to Route 608 (West Ox Road) South, stay to the right to Route 50 East, then turn right at one of the two entrances to the Fair Oaks Mall property.


Wednesday night, April 12
Ramp from I-66 East to Route 286 South
The ramp will be closed from midnight to 4 a.m. for milling. Traffic will be directed to Route 286 North, stay right to the I-66 West ramp, then stay right to Route 286 South.

 

Wednesday night, April 12, and Thursday night, April 13
Ramp from Route 50 East to I-66 West
The ramp will be closed both nights from midnight to 4 a.m. for a concrete pour. Traffic will be directed to continue farther east, stay to the left and use the left-most left turn lane to make a U-turn at the traffic signal at Waples Mill Road onto Route 50 West, then stay to the right and follow signs to I-66 West

Wednesday, April 12
Ramp from Route 29 North Centreville to I-66 West
The ramp will be closed from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. for paving. Traffic will be directed to continue farther north to the intersection of Machen Road/Trinity Parkway. At the traffic signal drivers will use the left-most left turn lane to make a U-turn onto Route 29 South, then stay to the right and follow signs to I-66 West.

 

Wednesday, April 12, and Thursday, April 13
Ramp from I-66 East to I-495 North  
The ramp will be closed both nights from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. for overhead bridge inspection. Traffic will be directed to I-495 South, take the exit to Route 50 (Arlington Boulevard) East, stay to the right to Fairview Park, take the left fork to Fairview Park North, bear left at the traffic signal, then stay to the right following signs to I-495 North.


Thursday, April 13, and Friday, April 14
Ramp from Route 28 South to I-66 West
Ramp from Braddock Road/Walney Road to I-66 West

The ramps will be closed both nights from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. for paving. Traffic from Braddock Road and Walney Road will be directed to Route 28 South. Route 28 South traffic will continue farther south, exit to Route 29 South, travel about one mile, then follow signs to I-66 West.

 

Thursday night, April 13, and Friday night, April 14 Ramps from Route 286 (Fairfax County Parkway) North and South to I-66 EastThe ramps will be closed each night from midnight to 4 a.m.
